will firebellies eat guppies?

janome Oct 25, 2004 05:14 PM

I read they can so I bought some feeder guppies but they have yet to catch them. Has anyone tried to feed FBT's guppies? I'm hoping they will since I don't want them breeding

Firebellied toads WILL eat guppies, but it is the matter of HOW? WILL they catch the guppies.

Guppies are much to fast for most firebellies, therefore your firebelly may cath the ODD guppy. But, don't plan on seeing any dissapearing guppies anytime soon.

If you want to feed your lil guy guppies, then take a guppy or two and put it on land in front of your firebelly, or hand feed it too him.

i am finding that out! i bought some. they were dollar a dozen so thought i'd try them. the toads are having a time catching them. i think i'm going to have to catch a guppy or two and put it in the little pools by their rocks so they can eat them. i don't want a tank full of guppies. thanks for reply

making a very shallow pool works very well. the guppy will flop around and the toad will go crazy. be careful your gravel isnt too small though because they will lunge at the guppy and could swallow some gravel

They must be catching some. I'm only counting about 8. My gravel is pretty good size so they can't injest it. Thank's for reply.
