Photo of Jud's large green male........

Kelly_Haller Oct 25, 2004 07:25 PM

Someone asked earlier about a photo of a large male green. This is Jud's in a photo he took with his wife and daughter. They don't get any more docile than this guy. The only green I know of that I can pick up with 100% confidence that he will not react in any aggressive manner whatsoever. I know it doesn't sound right, and I probably wouldn't say it about any other boid that I've known, but I truly believe it with this snake. He totally defies all logic about the standard thinking on the temperament of green anacondas. Additionally, he is the largest male that I am aware of at between 11.5 and 12 feet.

` If the practice of keeping large constrictors needed to be promoted, that picture would be very effective, as a poster. Obviously, all the creatures in the picture are enjoying themselves.

I always pictured fully grown (males and females) Greens to be so much bigger.
So anyone have any pics of a fully grown FEMALE Green being held? For comparison purposes.
Awsome picture.

I was looking for Rich Isle's (sp) pic of his female on his shoulders to post the link to it here. It is one of the biggest captives I've seen on here. I couldn't find it, but on the remote possibility someone hasn't seen this wild female here it is.

Zoolady, this pic from Renee shows wild anacondas in a breeding ball where you can clearly see the size difference between the sexes. Keep in mind though, that these are wild anacondas and not captives.

Arik,
Do you happen to know the size of the female in that picture? It looks insanely huge! Looks bigger than 20 ft. But I'm sure I am wrong right???

I continue to marvel at the tameness of the baby male anaconda I got from Kelly and Jud of which the pictured snake is his father. Although mine is only 3 foot I have no doubts what so ever that he will continue the calm traditions of this amazing lineage of green anacondas as he grows bigger.

He was tame when I took him out of the shipping container. He has never once hissed or given the slightest indication of wanting to strike or aggression. I handle him in shed even. Never an aggressive posture and without going on and on here, this snake loves to be handled and human interaction. Clearly knows the difference between me and food-the only snake I own that is taken out of his cage with out a hook. Took him to a crowded reptile show and lots of people handled him for hours and he was his usual calm self. Not only were comments made about a tame green anaconda, but that he was one of the tamest snakes that they ever handled!!!

I have made one big mistake-I should have got 2 more of these condas when Kelly and Jud sitll had them!!! Bill.
