I still have Skipper in my care and have to say he does crack me up! if you want to see something funny feed yours a butterworm and watch its reaction! He takes it in, spits it half out, shoves it back in with those funny front feet, then out, then in then out, then in - he loves 'em! LOL!

hehe funny! I used to feed mine crickets now and then and they loved them. Now I feed them this special koi food
(Sho Koi) and the one "baby" is now the same size if not bigger than the other adult in like 2 months! Kind of amazing!

Are you keeping the frogs permanently then or still babysitting?

Hi Erin,

I am not sure what to do...my friend Barb has not made up her mind if she wants to part with him yet or not so for now I am still "sitting" him and the Hissers. A few weeks ago I had decided I would not keep him (only one) if she offered due to heating the tank at night when I am trying to cool down the room for Luna. But, watching him last night (and feeding in general) just cracks me up! He is so very weird! I am curious as to understand the evolution of this frog regarding the lack of toungue (do they not have one or is it just not used in thesame way as "normal" lol! frogs? And also what's with the timy front legs (again re: evolution).

If I do keep him I will put him in a much larger tank and would like to have something else in there with him. I know I asked this way back but do you have yours together? Do you have them with any other critters?

thanks!

The absolute max he would need would be a 20 gallon for just one frog. They do well with about 5-6 gallons per frog but like the extra space. I keep both of mine in a 10 gallon and they are about full grown, but I will be moving them to a 20 soon.
They like company but the older they are when you introduce a new frog the longer it takes them to get used to it. Mine took a few weeks before they stopped nipping eath other but now they are never far apart and are always sitting next to or on top of one another. Its kinda cute!
I cant remember, is yours a definite boy or girl do you know? The girls get alot bigger than the guys. The one I had before was the size of my palm!

As for other critters there are some fish they can be kept with, mainly community fish that are fast enough to avoid getting eaten and lack spikes or barbs. So plecos and such are out unfortunately. Im pretty sure they can be kept with different Xenopus species as well without too much hassle.

Hope the info helped! Antoher thing to look into should you decide to keep him is the food. I bought a jug of this special koi food that has lots of nutrients and stuff in it (Sho Koi is the food) and my little frog just exploded in size in just a few months. And they are both healthy as can be. Just a thought!

Anyway back to studying! Catch ya later
