all snakes are different, each has their own personality. as much as we tend to generalize a species temperment most of us tend to forget that each animal is an individual. scrubs have a reputation for being evil face grabbing musk spraying monsters, neither of mine are very aggressive, one of my 2 is actually more docile than most colombian boas, the other isnt fond of being handled but will tolerate it on her terms. its that simple, each animal in any species has its own personality, and given that spotted pythons are a smaller species they are food for more larger animals, which could lead to more defensive reactions. but in the end it all boils down to each and every animal being an individual. so no, the books didnt lie, they just forgot to tell you that not every spotted python is all that friendly.

I have a pair and both are aggressive. It seems to be more of a food response than just mad. The both will come out at me when I'm doing something in the enclosure. Extremely aggressive when the food comes out too, but that is to be expected.

What books did you read? And what did each one say about spotted pythons?
