Butterworms are imported (i believe from chili?) and only eat vero leaves. Keep them in the fridge and they will last a few months, similar to waxworms.

As mentioned - fridge for long term. You may be able to get them to eat shredded carrots. They wont turn into moths either. I have read that they get zapped with a small dose of radiation to kill potential parasites and this also prevents them from turning into moths.
Keep an eye out for dead ones too. When they die they release some chemical in there body (from decomposition?) that will literally eat through plastic. I have a plant pot wiht a hole in the side from this and there is hole half way through my PVC plastic cage bottom. The container I keep the worms in also has part of the plastc bottom eaten away.
