Ball Pythons have bred with no change to either temperatures or photo-period, but there are exceptions to the rule with all species. In general, the best results are achieved by cycling, i.e. reduced temps and photo-period. Eric

If they need to have the change in lighting, then how doesn one do it if they are using the plastic containers? Most of them I don't even see a light in them. Do the large breeders drop the temp and change the lighting, again which is more important? Last year I dropped temps eimmed lights and I still didn't get eggs. They mated regularly but I never felt follicles and I didn't get anything. She was2,00 and he was 1,000 gr. This year I've left her in without artificial light only light from the window and the red heat lamp. He has had sunlight and a under the tank pad. Both are 2=yrs old and hope to get something this yr, they are hets for albino. Anyone in the Stockton area with balls email me.
Thanks

The snakes still see the light through the opaque tubs. They come from a region in Africa that has about a 12-12 day/night light cycle year round, and cooling at night would probably be more important for reproduction.
