Eye of the beholder

Recently there have been a lot of posts highly critical of other peoples animals when they share pics.

It costs exactly nothing to just say nice pic . You can always post your animals pics and people can judge for themselves what animals they admire. This is true wether your breeding to sell or not.In fact its to your advantage to be a gentleman ..I would order from a Breeder like Anthony whom is always a gentleman ,always willing to offer advice and who lets his animals speak for themselves long before Ild be interested in someones animals whos biggest contribution is everyone elses animals suck .
I was humbled at a show recently when I comented on how surprized I was people were breeding so many pain buckskin cresteds. The person I was talking to said why does a animal have to be expensive to be enjoyed? Good point !!!
Its what makes you happy.

You are so right! I received a buckskin hatchling free from Sandfire once when I had to wait a month to receive a female I'd ordered, and I raised her and now at 1.5 years of age, she's my special pet. I take her to all the local reptile exhibits to show what great pets geckos make. Once, about 5 months along, she suddenly turned brick-red, hence her name. Now she's brick red at night, but demurely tan-brown during the day.

i like your post. it makes me think alot. in this time of morphs for this and that sometimes it is not the animal we love but it's color or pattern or price we put in front of everything else.

thanks

Like what you like and dont let others dictate what is "quality" because it might just be a marketing scheme to sell the morph of the week. Look to the gecko within.

P.S. Just like everything else when everybody has an albino/hypo/whatever that won't be the coolest toy on the block.

Hmmmmm, I'm going to take a daring leap here and guess that some of the precieding post's were directed in my general vicinity. In self defense I would like to say a few things.
First,
I am well aware that everyone has there own opinion on what they consider to be estheticlly attractive. "No two men look a leaf and see the same leaf" and all that jazz. However we all (excluding the color blind) have a general consensus on what certain colors look like. If you are going to invent your own color code then please state you are doing so otherwise stick to what we all learned in elementry school.
Secondlly,
I would like to say that I see many crested geckos that I only wish I could own on these forums. By no means do I think I am any better than anyone else. I am simplly more honest with myself. In reality it is the "ugly baby syndrome" that some people have trouble grappiling with. Let's be honest here, a good majority of other peoples babbies aren't exactlly the most beautiful creatuers in the world. (Some infact look like little grimlens)However if you were to tell that parent that there new born, kind of scared you or was less than what you considered cute they would become extremlly offended (DEFENSIVE). Hence we equate beauty with love and that beauty is an inner beauty not an exterior one. (they were trying to sell you a buckskin)
Thirdly,
I don't know about you but I certainlly don't "love the price"
I do however enjoy crested geckos, regaurdless of there morph. However I don't think it's a crime to enjoy the same species in differnt patterns or color varations. Being an artist myself I enjoy creating completlly organic planted tereriums. And many of the crested morphs compliment the plants as the plants also compliment the cresteds. To each there own but at least do a little research and find out how to identify your morph properly.

PS: I am full of advice, ask away
PSS: I'm not trying to be a jerk just honest.

Actually I didnt aim it at anyone in particular. If you fit the image and recognize it then its worth thinking about.

almost 20 years ago I worked in a gunshop. People would bring in guns and tell me they were only fired 2 times. And has been kept safely in a gunsafe all the rest of the time. Ild wonder if they left that gun home..because Ild see what that looked like it was run over by a tank!
Meanwhile they would be looking at a brand new still in the box gun they wanted and tell me its all beat up and ''shot out''.

I keep that in mind while reading the ads for cresteds. Most of the ''oranges'' and ''reds'' I see advertised look like yellow and rust to me.I consider that buyer beware. When buying I think its very reasonable to be very particular and be very insistant. But in a forum , If your not polite than really your just being a jerk. There are ways to say your color looks off that doesnt include insults.

Ok "darkFantasy" if thats what you say, I'm sure those posts wern't aimed at nigelmoses or myself it was just one big misunderstanding. Anyway as for being polite I think I am modestlly curtious to others on the forum after all these are the kind of people I hang out with (with some exceptions). It can be very hard to convey oneself without any form of tone or facial expressions. I joke alot and I say it how it is. I don't ever come on the forum to blast other people about there geckos. But I don't sugar coat the truth for anyone. I try to leave that whole sociologically superficial stuff to the insencere candy spinners who speak it. I'm actually a pretty easy going guy.
Oh and when did I insult anyone? I don't recall saying anything offensive to anyone. I think you've got me mixed up with some other jerk on the forrum (see that was a joke).

It is difficult indeed to express onesself online.Being a Correction Officer(Prison guard) by trade ,I do find it even a little funny how tough everyone is online and how nice they are in person.
At any rate back to our mutual interest and regularly sceduled program ,,,cresties
