Delta shippers.. I have a question please. More

I am a known shipper and have shipped Delta in the past, so I am aware of how they are supposed to be packed etc. I know have to ship off one that is much larger then any I have shipped before so my standard box will not work.

How do you ship HUGE boas using Delta? I would say mine is 8 foot and about 40 pounds. Ever just purchase a cooler with wheels and secure the boa in there and drill in some air holes or what? I want to be secure as well as safe for the animal. I am afraid a smaller box may get thrown around or just break because of the weight.

Thanks in advance.

Shawn,
...The standard size tropical fish and reptile shipping box that is commonly used is 17x17x10. That should be big enough. If it isn't it does come in a double size that is 17x17x20 (I think). The fish and reptile store here in Savannah gets their animals shipped in the standard size all the time and I see the double size there fairly often. BTW, I bet you a beer that your 8 foot Boa does not weigh 40 pounds.
Jeff

Back in 1998 I used to buy and sell reptiles, after 9-11, I could not ship anything. When shipping huge snakes, I used those huge styrofoam fish boxes, sometimes the fish stores just throw them away...I would find a box large enough and then an oversized box to put around that one for the box in a box style. I would wedge styrofoam around all sides to leave a 2 inch airflow then punch holes in inside box as well. Seems like alot of work, but I shipped a huge boa, (40 plus pounds) this way from NY state to Arizona, and never had a problem....and I did not use Delta, if you understand me. If that does not sound good, check on those wood produce crates. They throw them out at Wegmans here in NY, and if you found a box to fit in it, it would be like a sheild around your box. Just my 2 cents. Good luck, Andy Federico
