What is considered "Normal"?

celeste Oct 26, 2004 02:38 PM

I was just wondering what kind of rate of growth is "normal" for bearded dragons at their various ages. Lola is about 4 months old and 10.5". We've had her about 1.5 months and she's put on an inch and a half. Kearse is 2.5 months old and 9.25" already. He was not quite 7" when we got him 1.5 months ago, so he's really growing very quickly. They were in the same tank up until about 3 weeks ago, they've been separated since then. They both eat/poop about the same amount, give or take a cricket or two. Is it normal for beardie's to vary this much in their growth? Kearse is a coral/sandfire x pastel german giant and Lola is a blood red x coral/sandfire, I'm not sure if the german giant genes would be making the difference in their growth rates?

I've added a pic of them during a soak, these are their "fired up" colors I think they're gorgeous for what I paid for them. We couldn't be more pleased!

German giants will grow faster and bigger. Their genetics defunately play a role, just like with people. Not all children grow at the same rate, or reach the same size.

Thanks for all the replies

The red one is a coral/sandfire x blood red cross. Her father was from sundial reptile and her mother was a blood red from dragon's den.
