Is this normal?

Rez Oct 26, 2004 05:23 PM

My 2 month old beardie seems to have a strong dislike for water. Everytime I mist him, he turns away and sinks low to the ground. I've tried misting the sides of the tank but he doesn't seem to care. Just recently, I tried giving him a soak. His head turned a pale yellow and the mouth went agape as he darted up my arm.
Is this common? Is there any other way to offer him water?

Greens in his salads would work since they carry a lot of water.

If you have any way of injecting insects with water (a hypodermic needle would work very well).

I've personally never had this problem. Hades loves his soak so....

Although my brothers bd Draco doesn't seem to like it that much.

I'd try just taking a wet warm paper towel to the back of the bd and just lightly touching him with it. Draco loves that but not water alone.

Did you have warm water? I have a 2 month old, I put 1 inch of warm water in one of those plastic 12 inch small animal carrier. Then I put the dragon in it and put the lid on. I think he likes it. I soak him for 15 minutes, if longer I put it on a heating pad on the lowest setting so he does not get cold.

Thanks for the paper towel tip, Triad. I'll try that.

VHF ~ Yes, it was lukewarm - warm water that came up to his shoulder.
