She ate!!!!!!!! (cute picture!)

silversunkiss9 Jun 29, 2003 02:24 PM

My sick gecko finally ate today. Okay, so it was turkey baby food from an eye dropper, but she ate it by herself by licking the food from the dropper. It was like bottle feeding an infant, but after all this time of having to force-feed it to her, I was overjoyed when she ate it. She still won't eat mealworms, crickets, or even waxworms yet, but this is a start.

Good job!!! Try a bug slurry next time...it'll get her used to the taste of insects again. Just take a few mealies, crickets, waxies, and any other feeder insect you may have, a dash of miner-all, and a teaspoon of vanilla or strawberry ensure (never chocolate) and mash it all up in a blender. You can syringe feed it to her and its an excellent source of protein, fat, and calcium. Good luck!!!

I might try that. I do have mealies, waxies, and crickets right now. I also have vanilla ensure that I had tried feeding her so that's handy. Thanks for the info. Hopefully it'll get her better since I'm still pretty worried.
