Are most of the collards out there WC?

mdngtrain Oct 26, 2004 06:59 PM

I'm seeing a WHOLE LOT of people with WC collards, aspets, and the ones for sale. I was wondering if there are any breeders out there? I've seen a few, but my impression is that the majority of animals are not captive bred... Anyone know a good breeder out there? I'm looking for a M collard (texas? I'm still trying to get their diff types straight) to live with my F... or maybe even another F. The guy that sold her to me had insisted that she isCB, but I'm beginning to wonder. She HATES her cage, even though it's a 40g breeder...

Personally I think it is a pretty even mix of cb's and wc's. I haven't bred lizards before, but I plan to breed Annabella (Great Basin wc) and baby (Mojave wc) in a year or so. They just make such great pets, and I wouldn't want to risk brumation; however, I do think the cb population should be increased.

Ezra (Eastern cb) is definitely tame I don't think he would even be dominant towards another male. He's sometimes squirmy and puffs if not handled daily but never hissed nor bit nor threatened. As for Annabella she is tame to the point she loves being held, petted, and handfed. Baby still is crazy he likes to run around fast he quit biting, but he still goes into fight stance and tail whips (so cute) I think I'm slowly gaining his trust through food "yummm".

I would say that most pet stores offer wild caughts. You can find captive breds in the classifieds of this website but I think the season is winding down. In early summer, you can find quite a few captive bred collareds. Most of mine are captive bred and they try to escape and jump against the glass just like wild caughts do.
