any care tips for a smooth green snake?

riiotgrrl Oct 26, 2004 08:30 PM

i just purchased my very first smooth green snake from a show. I have always wanted one, and am now super excited that i finally found one. I bought him from a show in manchester...he is a WC juvie...the vendor told me that he had been dosed with ivermecttin to eradicate any parasites. I have him in a densley decorated 10g with lots of plastic plants and vines and hiding places. The temp seems to stay around 75-80f with a heat pad underneath. he has been eating crickets, silk worms, and i think he ate an earthworm. THe point is that he is hunting and acting well. I have read that the hardest thing is to get them to eat in captivity, and he ate the first day...so i am assuuning that he is ok, and going to thrive. I cant find too much info on the web about them, although i have found the care sheet on melissa kaplans' page. If anuone has any info on these great little guys, i would appreciate some tips. He is so cool, and i am hoping that he will thrive here in my home. Thanks alot, jen
