Since pythons are ectothermic (or cold blooded), they rely on heat from their surrounding environment to properly digest food. Many people find that when placed in a warmer environment, a python will become more active, and look for food since its metabolism will be increased due to rise in body temp. Generally speaking, when exposed to a cold environment for a period of time, a python will not eat, probably due to hibernation instincts kicking in. Hope this answered your question.
