Cold Tollerant Skink Species

bast May 15, 2003 09:45 AM

Hello,

I am in southeasterm MA. I have some large outdoor reptile pens. They are 6X15 and 6X25 ft. The walls are cement and the tops are covered with hardware cloth/mesh screen on PVC pipe frames. They are furnished with rock piles, logs, natural grasses and weeds, and areas of mulch and dirt. I will soon be adding appropriate water containers. I am going to put my BTS in one for the summer and try breeding Russian tortoises in the other. The torts can easily take our winter. The BTS will have to come indoors.

Are there any "larger" skinks who could hiberate outdoors in southern New England?

Thank you,

Brian
