Woma enclosure heat gradient

Samadi Jun 29, 2003 02:46 PM

Hello....just purchased my first Woma and the existing temperature in the room and at the tank without eny heat sources is at 80 degree's. Does anyone have any sugestions as to how i should go about providing light and a heat gradient between one end of the tank and the other that will be good for the snake? Seems i will have a problem with the cool end due to the existing temperature in the room.....any suggestions will be grately appreciated. Thanks

Mine are in my snake room, which stays on the warm side, too. But they still occasionally bask under the lamps, so I'd use one. Just get a good digital thermometer and don't let the hot spot get over 95f. I only need 15w bulbs to acheive this temp in 36" Visions. Just experiment. Enjoy your woma! They are the kings of snake pets in my humble opinion. There are brighter-colored, more expensive, and far more sought-after snakes, but throw in the active, exploring, great (often scary!)feeding-response, and interesting personality in a snake that is so docile to handle, and it has become my favorite.
