Just got my first bp (questions)

MISKIE Oct 27, 2004 06:57 AM

i have a question i just got him on sat and every time i walk by the tank ow anything he is stricking out of his hide and hitting he glass and trying to bite what should i do?

should i give him longer to settle in or should i just start working with him. like getting him out and start handleing him and if so what is a good way of doing this?

should i feed him before i start getting him out for the first time sence i have had him i was told he is eating once a week (he is almost the lenght of the 10 gallen tank he is in i know i need to get him into a bigger tank i will be doing this very soon like in the next few days)

thank you miskie

Give it little more time to settle in before you work with it.
Try feed it first and let it settle in first.

This is normal behavior. The snake is adjusting to its new surroundings. Make sure the tank is in a low traffic area. This helps the snake to not get too stressed.

I would suggest letting him settle in for 7-10 days or even two weeks. The temptation is to handle too soon and can add more stress.

If he's been eating once a week, then keep up that routine. But even if you don't, it won't hurt him to wait 2 weeks. Ball pythons can go for months without eating.
