I just came accross this site on introduced speices in FL........more

Hoppy Oct 27, 2004 07:16 AM

I knew I lived in a Mecca for introduced feral animals but I had no Idea of how many, I have to start Herping at home more oftern, take a look at this site it is amazing how many different animals are now established here in FL, I going to Broward county to find me a Blue and Gold Macaw LOL. I think the list is just a bit outdated because of the non-breeding status of some of the animals. But if you do a search on google you can find where fish and game have removed almost 70 Burmese Pythons, from babies to adults from the national park recently (6 in one day!) and there is an Estate in Broward where they have removed 40 Boa Constrictors including gravid females!!!
Thanks

I live on miami beach and about a year ago i was over this elderly man's house, and a blue and gold macaw was a regular visitor of his yard. lol, i think it would be crazy to see a burmese out there in the wild.

I live in Broward County and I think the number non native species here is more than the native. We have a colony of monkeys that live in the mangroves across the street from me. It's like living in Africa LOL

how many monkeys and do you see them often? probably vervets. i live up in ontario we have very few none natives, most are in the water from ships balast and i think there is a small population of red eared sliders in downtown T.O. man i would like to go down to florida or texas just to see the wildlife, wonder how some of those animals fare when it gets cold?

I'm interested!! There used to be one about here in Broward county about 4-5 years ago. I was a member for a couple of years, I got busy and sold all my herps. Anybody going to the "Alternative" pet show in Deerfield next weekend?
