Atlas511 Oct 27, 2004 12:24 PM

I just invested in a 12ft Tiger 100%het albino She seems to have what i guess is an RI. I opened her mouth and she had some bubbles or foam in the back of her throat. She was shipped last night and arrived this morning she was a little pissy but ok. She hasnt breathed heavy since i got her in the cage. What should i do I cant lose her she was a big investment Please help any suggestions!!!

I would get her to a capable herp vet asap! Most of the time retics can deal with RIs easily enough on their own with a bit of warmth and some tlc, but her being the investment animal she is, it'd be worth the extra vet cost. Most likely the vet will give you a round of typical antibiotics, like Baytril, etc, which can be given orally or injected. I've yet to figure out if injectibles are easier or more difficult than orally administrated meds with large retics. I had a large male that was so jumpy that giving him an injection was entirely too risky, so I had to resort to giving him the meds orally. Giving them orally probably decreases their effectiveness a little, but I'd rather risk that than risk breaking the needle off inside the snake! Anyway, good luck with her. I'm sure it'll turn out okay.
