Habba Mist - Cheap Misting Solution?

gzollinger Jun 29, 2003 03:31 PM

Anyone have any experience with this product:

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?siteid=8&pCatId=9738

It looks like a nice self contained misting unit for only $55. I'm curious if you could run more then one misting head off of it. Anyone get there hands on one of these yet?

Hello,
I would say steer away from that particular mister. If you're only misting a very small enclosure it would probably be okay, however it only has 28 ounces of capacity - that's very small. A better alternative would be to buy one of the complete mister kits sold by BARRS (www.barrs.com) and get yourself a sprinkler timer and a pump-up garden sprayer. I have that setup myself and I am currently running no less than six misting heads. The only problem with using a garden sprayer is having to pump it up daily to insure that you have enough pressure to actually run the nozzels. Another product to look into is the Wetworks misting system which consists of a resevoir and a 55 psi piston pump hooked up to a digital timer. You can buy the system from Wetworks (do a google search for wetworks), or you can buy the Big Apple brand which looks almost the same as the Wetworks mister. The Big Apple and Wetworks run for about $100 each and the good thing is you can hook up something as big as a five gallon bucket and have your misters running on multiple cycles per day for probably at least a couple weeks at a time. That's going to be my next purchase.
