55 gallon Leo tank Questions

Good Morning!!
I plan on dividing a 55 gallon tank into 2 separate areas. My question is on heating. Would putting a UTH in the middle of the tank create a temperature gradient going outwards to both sides? If so what size UTH should I use? Also, should I use a colored divider as opposed to clear so the tankmates cant see each other?

If you put it right in the middle where the divider is ,I dont see why that wouldent work just fine.Im not sure what size heat pad would be best for you...
