Baby geckos tail came off. What can I do to help it heal properly?

geckogirl85 Jun 29, 2003 04:54 PM

My new baby leos tail came off due to little kids sneaking in my room trying to hold her. I've never had a baby leos tail come off, but an adults (she ended up dying)but I know this happens a lot with baby leos, so what can I do to help her tail heal the right way with no infections or vet trips?
Thanks

Jessica

Put a dash on neosporin on the wound and make sure she is in a very clean tank and make sure she gets plenty of calcium from her food...other than that, there is nothing else you really can do for a lost tail. It will regrow on its own, though it may not be nearly as nice as the first.

The baby hasn't even shed her first skin yet, so she hasnt eaten anything. Shes alone in the small tank I have her in since her sister escaped. I'll put some neosporin on her.

Thanks a lot!!

every day. I've never had a tail loss (fingers crossed, hopefully I never will) but I hear neosporin will not only help keep it from getting infected but will help it grow back less bulbous and ugly.

Keep her warm, on paper towels, kept singly, change paper after every poop- in other words, keep conditions sterile and stress down. Also provide lots of food!
