Sand Boa Dual! Why did they fight?? What happened? Please help!!!

Lynxseryn Oct 28, 2004 12:00 PM

When we noticed what had happened, they were ontop of the sand, constricting around each other bighting each other in the face and head area. We put them in water and they seperated immediatly. One for a fact is a female, the other we're not positive what it is. They had eaten earlier this week and wouldnt of had the smell of mice in them, or still be hungry. These two would play together and then suddenly this happened. Does anyone know what could have caused them to go at it? Please any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

What do you mean that they would play together? Have they always been kept together? About how old are they?

Lynxseryn Oct 29, 2004 11:14 AM

Yea they are kept together, actually 4 of them are. 2 males, 1 female, and one unknown. We were planing on taking her out before all of them hit sexual maturity at the youngest level. The two that fought, the female and the unknown, are about a year old, both the same size.

What we think is, is it possible that they just startled each other? Whats another possibility??

That sounds likely. One of the females I have that gave birth this year is psycho right now. Even when she shouldn't be hungry she will grab newspaper in the cage and wrap it up or strike at the front of the cage.

Hi there-

I have a San Felipe that will strike anything and wrap anything as well. I think she'd eat a green bean if it moved in front of her. I have pics of her trying to eat my ladies arm. Good feeding response!!!
