Another Question!!!!

geckogirl85 Jun 29, 2003 05:11 PM

Can I stick week old babies in with an older sibling that is a month old or will there be problems?

And, a mating question.

I've been trying to breed my two geckos, Cesar and Diego again but Cesar tries to run away from him and when he grabs her she fights him off and last time she was wiggling her tail back at him. Is this natural and should I just let him go ahead and try mating with her.
I know she is in good health and her tail is fat and she is fat also, but with him biting her tail and her trying to get away can that make her tail break off or am I just being too worried??

Any advise is appreciated!

Jessica

Don't put the babies together...a month old baby is way too big to be living with week olds.
Female leos play hard to get while mating, but once they are caught, are very submissive. If she is acting like that, she is really telling him to back off and is not interested. I would separate them for a while. If she has already laid all of her eggs for this season seperating them will prevent her from becoming gravid again (which could cause health problems due to the stress of breeding).

Ok, I won't put the babies together.

For the breeding. This year is the first year I've ever bred. My female only laid 4 eggs this season. The first two times I bred them she let him do his thing with out struggling.
Does this just mean shes done for the year of just for a few months?

Well if she isnt interested in the male at all it may be that she is still gravid and has more eggs coming up but it could mean that she is done for this season and doesnt want to breed again. It is not uncommon for first year females to only lay a couple clutches. Good luck!
