black rat found at grandparents' house

I found this black rat while I was visiting my grandparents' house this past April.

I wish blakc ratsnakes were native to California.

Must be hard to love ratsnakes and have none native Terry. Of course you have some pretty cool species in your neck of the woods.

native guttata or obsoleta in California and that's what I focus on. There's some nice native snakes to keep me going so you are correct in that Travis. I would probably go nuts if there were native guttata and obsoleta because I would be able to see them in the wild and I think that's really neat.
