Florida girl bitten by Coral Cobra

rearfang Oct 28, 2004 01:16 PM

A (14 if I heard it right) year old girl who is the daughter of a Game and Fish officer who lives in Homestead, Fla was bitten by their "pet" Coral Cobra. The officer keeps many species of snake in his home. She was taken to the hospital but according to Al Cruz from Venom-one there is no anti-venom for this species.

There was no word on her condition...

Footnote:

The reporter (ABC news) went on to explain that this was a rare species from SOUTH AFRICA-the Sahara Desert (love how accurate these reporters are (LOL).

I hope she is alright. No anti-venin, or none presently available?

I may have met this officer at the Miami museum of science during snake day a couple years ago. There was an officer there with a coral cobra.
