ULTRASONIC FOGGER??

aliaime Oct 28, 2004 02:32 PM

I am using a Fogger to bring up the humidity in a 55 gallon tank. I have it set on a digital timer for 2 1/2 hours every morning. Is that recommended????

It's fine as long as 1) It get your humidity up to the standard that you require. 2) That the cage does not become and stay wet. 3) you allow the cage to dry out from optimum percentage until the next day. 4) if the cage stays wet, over time you can risk blisters on your snake. you should not have condensation on the glass. You have to use some common sence with this product. This is a good device for high humidity loving animals. I used one when I had an Emerald Tree Boa but, I found that after about 3 months or so they stoped working and had to be replaced, and these are not cheap! In my opinion I would try to find another way of maintaining the humidity. :ie larger waterbowl, misting.
Just my 2 cents.

I haven't had mine for very long, but I like it. I use it twice a day for 5 to 10 minutes each time and mist every few days (Brazilian Rainbow Boa). The newspaper stays dry but the humidity stays high. I have read that the membrane has to be replaced periodically, which I am not looking for to, but I am very pleased.

Repti-Flo 250 pumps work much better and last longer as well.
Cleaning the pump with LimeAway every 3 months keeps the minerals washed out and keeps the pump perculating nicely. You can get the pumps at Petsmart for like 13.00.

How big of an enclosure can the 250 handle sufficiently? I checked into those but I found the fogger on ReptiDirect for $19.99, so I figured it was worth it at around half price.

I can run one in a 75gal Tank at half volume for 4-5 hrs and reach 90% humidity levels the screen top is sealed of coarse.Average about 1/4 volume for 60-70%,just clean them once a month or so with Lime-Away and they keep on pumping.
Their fully adjustable so its easy to dial them in.Run it high till the level rises(75% ) and then adjust it down one click every 2-3 hrs.till you hit the sweet spot of 55-60%,it will often spike to 65% in the late evenings so thats about perfect for my needs here in Texas.I run a consistant ambient room temp of 78*-82*.
