Nope. Repticon had set one up for a couple of weekends ago, but it was cancelled. Repticon didn't bother to tell anyone other than the vendors of the cancellation and lots of people showed up at the fair grounds, only to be told of the cancellation by a security guard. Repticon did a pathetic job of advertising and planning for this show as they tried to have it on the same day as the Birmingham and Hamburg shows as well as several other shows within a close proximity. They failed to reach out to hardly any of the major breeders in the TN area and so I'm sure it seemed that their vendor list would be short. Maybe somone with some actual knowlege will make an attempt at another show in the near future. There were even people who showed up from Alabama, only to be let down.
FYI, in TN it's illegal to own a turlte, due to a health department regulation. So, a show there probably won't have chelonians!
Katrina
Well, not that they were ever mentioned, but no, there would not be any chelonians there. There are many other retarded laws in TN as well. No venomous, no native species including sub species that could not possibly survive in TN. All of this and more because Walter Cook is an absolute moron who knows nothing about reptiles and chooses to let his ignorance show in his laws. If he only knew what was in this state! And we won't even get into the neccessary permits! Anyway, maybe someday we will have a decent show in TN, we have to find much better promoters first.
Candoia,
Thats why TN needs a true reptile society. All they have is a TWRA infested, We know better than anybody else, reptile society. I have brought the issue up to some people but they didn't seem interested. Are you interested in one? Maybe if the herp owners got together we could get Cooke to change his mind through legislative connections & means. I think the tortise prohibition can be over turned in the legislature if all owners got together. You never know with a true reptile society, we could do our own show in TN. What do you think?
