Momma Rat question

BarLee Oct 28, 2004 08:21 PM

Hi all.....we finally have enough to start thinning the colonies. My question is how will momma rat react to having all pinks removed at the same time? If she's not nursing will her milk dry up quickly. Are there any complications that we should be aware of? Things to look for? Should we leave one or two pinks with her? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I pull what I want or need. Moms may miss them at first, that is inevitable. But I wouldn't worry about it. If you need to pull newborn pinks, pull them. She will breed back and use that energy making more.
