Pine Isle Leachianus

RobHaneisen Oct 28, 2004 08:29 PM

Here's my breeder female Pine Isle Leachianus. She is three years old and was purchased from Don Hamber. She is prove and is 10.5 inches total length and weighs 174 grams. Please let me know if you think she may be another locale. Thanks!

She looks very similar to other PI leachies I have seen that came from Don Hamper. Don started with them early and I would trust that they are PIs if you got them direct from him. My PIs have similar pattern but the colors are much lighter green and more pink. But they are "high pink" PIs that I searched for a while to get (bought the male as a hatchling but even then he had more color than usual). Because there is so much variability in each isle form and many isle forms are very similar (i.e., ana and ami) and there are so many people interbreeding them (not everyone cares about isle morph purity) it can be difficult to correctly identify a morph just from looks. Some of the biggest breeders are breeding for color and crossing localities with great frequecy (see Phillipe DeVejolis' site giantgeckos.com). This is a "problem" (it is only a problem if you care about locality purity or if the breeders misrepresent the locality) not specific to leachies the same has occurred with the dwarf boa morphs.

John
