TEQUILA ISN'T EATING ENOUGH , PLEASE HELP!

PoohBear03031 Oct 28, 2004 08:53 PM

Since i got her, I have only seen her eat three crix, and that wasn't all at the same time. She will not eat in front of me. I have tried sitting across the room, and she still will not eat if she sees me. Therefore have been leaving the crix in her tank until lights out, but i still can not be sure how many she is getting. I found a bunch in her basking branch tonight, and the other problenm is we have a big tank that we put a divider in, and the crix are finding their way onto the other side of the divider. I am also pretty sure that she isn't eating her salad. I have never even seen her near it. I have it on a low sided plate, so she can see it. Should I feed her the crix in a seperate tank, and if so how do I do that when she is just starting to let us get near her without freaking? I wasn't that concerned until I saw a post about the same aged beardie eating dozens of crix at a time. I thought she just needed to settle in, like my geckos did when i first brought them home. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Can you tell us a little bit more about her setup? What sort of lighting are you using? How big is the tank? How are you checking the temperatures?

If you just got her last Sunday she is probably still just settling in. At 2 months however they should be eating fairly regularly. What size crickets is she eating? Is she active and seem healthy besides this? If so I'd give her a few more days to pick it up. You also might want to try taping newspaper over her cage to keep the stress level down. Keep us updated.

Hi. She is in a 60 gal, I think. We have a portion equivalent to a 20gal sectioned off. All she has in her side is a basking branch and a rock. I have a a regular 100 watt household bulb for her basking light, I tried a MVB and a bulb speific to basking and the household one seemed to work best. I am going to get a flood light for her though. I have a Reptisun 8.0 tube light for her UVB, and another 75watt bulb to keep the overall temp at 80- 85. I bought a temp gun, to check the temps, that's what all the caresheets recommended. I don't know if i trust it or not though. I currently don't have any bulbs on her at night, because my house usually doesn't get any colder than 70 degrees at night.

I have been feeding her 1 week old crix, I think they're 1 week olds, they're are plenty small enough for her though. She seems to be in good health, should i be looking for anything specific? Like in her poop?
