About how long does it take to get a permit? I was thinking about 3 months. Does anyone know when some nice easterns will be up for sale? Im pretty sure theres probably a waiting list for these gems, anyone know who has the shortest one?

Thanx in advance

the permit process can take 2-3 months (that is, for the USFWS intrastate commerce permit), however, some states, like Illinois, also require a state E & T permit from the DNR; that is usually a quicker process.

In terms of availability, most of us who breed eastern indigos are sold out for this year, however, if you go to www.indigosnakes.com you can get a listing of the various indigo breeders and perhaps you can get lucky. It is still early enough to get on most people's waiting list for next summer.

"About how long does it take to get a permit?"

hey wes,

i have applied for three permits at different times over the last two years and the longest i had to wait was 35 days. it was very reasonable.

also, if you poke around enough, there's always the chance you'll find someone who has a snake where the promised purchaser has bailed. i got two easterns that way.
