I live in the mountains of western NC. I was coming home last night and saw a large amount of these frogs crossing the road. Not in masses but just one or two every quarter mile or so. I have not lived up here long and have never seen these before. Any help is appreciated.

Looks like she might be harbouring eggs. If you need anymore info fell free to ask.

Definatley a Female Wood Frog. They are getting fairly rare in that they are very sensetive to ecological disturbances.

Rana sylvatica I belive is the scientific name.

will you be releasing her?

I only keep boas. I was just interested in what it was, thanks for the info guys,
