Breeding Ratio

Sunshine Oct 29, 2004 07:48 PM

I'm setting up a 1:1, 1.1 ratio for future breeding. It ocurred to me that somewhere, somehow, I got it in my mind that this would be ideal. What ratio is actually recommended?

Also wanted to say I got my first real cage on Tuesday from BARRS and I have NO idea why I ever bought a Lizard Lounge. I love the cage. I will be buying more next week along with a thermostat. Someone should have warned me about the nature of snake addiction!

I like a 1:1 for just about everything....and I like having spare males in case one just won't do it.

The other day I read one of your posts about getting some BARRs cages...so I looked them up...I think I'm going to get some myself. How much was your shipping? and which model did you go with?

Chris,
I got the 36 x 24 x 12 and shipping was $33.00 for the single cage. I asked about 2 other sizes and shipping was $22 for the 24 x 24 x 12 and $11 for the 24 x 12 x 12. I really like the cage though. I still have condensation on the acrylic front from the original setting up Tuesday before last. I've got it bumped up against a wall and need it to be moved forward just a bit to allow more air flow in the rear where the vent is and put less water in the mulch when I clean. (I'm waiting for her to pass something)

The only thing I am unhappy about is that it's flimsy-at least more than I thought it would be. I don't think it should cause any problems unless I drop it from 4 or 5 feet. Even then the only thing I think would happen is that I'd have to re-seal it. I am planning on getting many more. I also wondered if newspaper ink or feces would stain it, but since I don't use newspaper it really doesn't matter. I'll have to drill a hole in it to place the thermostat probe.

I'm a little less comfortable reaching in the front to pull her out than I was going from above.
