Leaf Tail Bonding

Mad_1234 Oct 29, 2004 08:08 PM

Is there such a thing. Do reptiles or leaf tails inparticular bond to one another. My male and female pietschmanni seem paritculary bonded. They sleep together and are always right next to each other at night and I have a huge cage. When I picked up my male while cleaning their cage he immediatly jumped out of my hand and ran back to my female who then started to lick him. Also when I first got them they were did like each other at all. Just like to hear if anyone one else has noticed this behavior.

well, it seems like my pietschmanni are fond of each other somewhat. i have a pair that i bought in may at the reptile show, and they have always stuck close to one another. the separate female i got from russ gurley almost always keeps her distance from the other two and usually sleeps away from them. my phantasticus are pretty fond of one another, which makes me happy. they wave their tails at one another but are quiet and peaceful. my henks keep pretty separate though, and i have had them the least amount of time. with time im sure they'll warm up to one another.

Very interesting, I have heard they do PICK their mate, they have to like them. You may have something there Mad.

I have a weird set up. I had just a pair of henkeli, but as I have said a few times on here, I am guardian for a while to another male.
After having him isolated when he first came for the proper time, I introduced him into the tank with my pair. Barkely and Sindar.

They all seem fond of one another, the males have no problems. There is never a time I do not see all 3 lined up almost touching, sleeping together. Well maybe a few times, LOL but thats usually the way I find them all.

They seem like PEACEFUL geckos

yes, definitely very peaceful. the closest thing to agression ive seen is once when one of my female spinies nipped at my other female's tail. also, since i wrote that last reply, as if they're trying to defy what i said, my spinies have begun sleeping together on the same branch. kinda weird. i would say my crested geckos are a lil 'closer' in the time sleeping, etc.
