He's probably trying to hibernate. If you want him to, put his cage down in your crawl space. He will hibernate for a while, probably till March. I would do it, because tiger sallies eat so much! Just make sure he has enough bedding to burrow down nice and comfy. MAybe it's something else, probly not. Hope this helps.

This is normal behavior for tigers. Tigers and other ambystiomids do not hibernate. They do not go to sleep, they just move more slowly. Adult ambystomids spend the majority of their life underground.
It will come out when it is hungry.

Well that's really cool! I thought they hibernated. HEre in winter, it gets really cold and the tiger salamanders, i thought, hibernated underground. Guess im wrong. Interesting, though!
