Question About Boa Color????

latin1956 Oct 30, 2004 12:58 PM

I normally do not post here, but I have a question?

My friend bought a pair of Peruvian Boas and the pictures showed them as being light in color. Well he got them and they are very dark. Do boas get dark when cold and lighten up when warm?

Thank you
Tom

When you see a pic. of a Snake, taken with a Digital Camera, will you get it's "True Color". So all the pic.'s you see give you really no idea of the true color, of the snake you are buying !

Both of the previous replies are correct. Stress will cause a boa to darken and the way a pic is taken will also effect its shade - more light will make the boa appear lighter. Other factors which will change a boa's shade include humidity (more humidity equals a darker animal), temperature, and light (my animals get lighter in bright light). Lastly, boas tend to darken after eating and females darken while gravid. And some animals will show a more dramatic change than others even from the same litter! ------------RON
