Question

kingofspades Oct 30, 2004 02:13 PM

i bought some emori ratsnakes that were captive BORN babies from a gravid, wild caught female.

now, the guy said they were eating pinks. i tried it, and they wanted nothing to do with it. i chalked it up to them being
A: not hungry
B: still a bit shaken up from their trip

do you guys think scenting with a live anole would spark their interest?
i know wild emorys and corns LOVE their lizards.

Don't jump the gun...Not yet, anyway. How long have you had them, and when is the last time they ate? Before any scenting, etc, I would: a. Let them settle in for a few days(then offer food); b. Try offering them a pinky with the head cut off, leaving the head in there with the brains squeezed out the back; c. I would probably offer live pinks before messing around with scenting

But most important: Be patient, especially if you have only had these snakes a few days... Duffy

I agree, be patient. Also, how you set them up makes a difference. Small shoe box or gallon gar, etc., they need to feel secure and be undisturbed. Separated helps too. If they haven't eaten for a week, or more, try putting one in a deli cup with a small thawed pink. If it doesn't work, try a small, live pink. They normally eat well.
