estimate of age?

pacman101 Oct 30, 2004 04:44 PM

My mali is about 9-10 inches long and has shows no signs of turning black at all.Anyone got an idea of how old he is?I was guessing like 2 or 3 years since they grow slow but they usually get darker around that age and he isn't.

thanks

My male mali Tank is reportedly 3 years old and is just now beginning to show yellow on his sides and dark on his head. Plus not all malis get the black and yellow coloring, I don't think. Especially females - do you know your uro's gender for certain?

So how long is tank? And how long have you had him?

(I don't want to squat on your topic but I have to ask a question)

If you have had a mali for 2 years and got them when they were about 10 months old, how long should they be?

Tank is in a 4' x 16" enclosure currently. It's too small, and my next project after finishing Spike's enclosure is to make a new one for Tank.

Anyway, I don't know if there's an expected size for any certain age. I kind of doubt it, actually, but I don't know. Tank is about 12" (I'm guessing), and Turtle is about 9" and they're supposed to be the same age. Thing is, I only adopted them last spring, so I don't know how fast they grew. They haven't gained any remarkable length in the time they've been with me, but both have gained weight.

See the mali's have gained about 60 grams since I've had them and about 4 inches in length over the past 2 years. Heating is correct, feeding is correct same with cage size and interaction with me.

I just think they are very very slow growers.
