Egyptian Toad acting funny

gypsygirl Oct 31, 2004 04:48 AM

I have had an Egyptian toad (Bufo regularis) for about three years. Leopold has been an active, happy toad who has never hibernated. In the past two weeks, I have noticed that he is sluggish and not really eating. The temperature has remained the same in his tank. He also seems to be shedding. He's never done this before (or at least I never noticed it). Is this normal? Is he hibernating? Should I take him to a vet? And does anyone know of a vet in the NYC area that would even look at him?

Thanks so much-
jen

sheeding is completly normal, they usually eat the skin so you don't have a chance to find it in the tank. sometimes they will not eat a few days before and after a shed.
