It's been three of four days, so it must be time for more bairdi pics.....

chrish Oct 31, 2004 11:13 AM

I'm still trying to get my cheap digicam to accurately record the colors of either of my Edwards county bairdi. A little desaturation in photoshop, and I think I'm getting closer. I can't seem to figure out why this species doesn't record well on film/digital! Those of you that have them know what I mean.

Hopefully my new camera will arrive this week (Konica Minolta D7) and then I can get a more accurate representation. May try for some natural light shots as well.

Anyway, this is my female, all fat and happy and getting ready to go down into the garage after thanksgiving.

Back when she weighed in at around 200g, she produced 8 big eggs. Hope she can top that effort next spring since she now tips the scales at 660 grams.

Beautiful snake !!!
Very nice.
I haven't taken any new pics of my bairdis in the last week or so. I guess I am slipping.
I will correct that in the next day or two, once they get last nights meal digested...LOL

how about an older pic just for the heck of it.

i want one of those cameras soooooo bad...how much did you pay for it, where are you getting it from? I'm big into photography, already have a bunch of lenses so i'm looking for just the body of that camera. but let me know how you like it once you get it!

Yeah, I have been going crazy for about 2 years waiting. I almost jumped ship and bought a Canon or Nikon, but now that it is on the horizon, I am very glad I waited. There are a couple of reviews online already for the 7D and the magazine reviews should be out this month. So far, it looks like a great camera.

I ordered mine from Adorama, although most stores and online sources are taking orders now. They are supposed to be receiving them and shipping sometime next week or the week after.

The price right now in the US is $1599 and noone is discounting yet. It is intended to compete with the Canon 20D, although Canon has started dropping their 20D price to try to cut out the Minolta camera. You do get a $150 rebate certificate which is good towards the future purchase of a minolta lens and an extra 1 year warranty (total of 2 years).

The rumor mill says the 7D will start to come down to around $1350 or so in about 4-6 months. Of course, sometime in 2005 they will bring out the slightly lower end 5D (to compete with the digital rebel/Nikon D70) in the sub $1000 price range and sometime thereafter, the professional 9D, which will probably be 11MP and run around $3000.

I've heard some bad things about Adorama. How was your experience? I usually buy my equipment from B and H, but I've noticed that Adorama is pretty much cheaper across the board, at least for video equipment.
Cheers!

I much prefer B&H. They are the best. You can save a buck or two at adorama sometimes, but they are crooks.

I only ordered from them because B&H wasn't taken preorders at the time. I still may jump over to B&H if Adorama doesn't ship the day they are available.

Nice....I love that camera, but i'm seriously considering getting Minolta DImage A1....5 megapixels is enough for me, however I do wish I had $1500 lying around for that camera, lol.

My young female t. taeniura only had five eggs her first year. She beefed up some and had nine eggs her second year, almost twice as many. Your snake is three times as large, and should have considerably more eggs, I would think
