The sun!

Outdoors is best, but if I'm keeping my box turtles indoors between their outdoor pen time and hibernation, I just use an incandescent bulb in a reflector dome--gets about 95 deg F underneath it.

Thanks.

The turtles are out all summer, and were going to hybernate in the basement, but as I said earlier, my daughter moved back into her room, and ruined that plan!

I have the type of bulb you mentioned, but what about at night?

If you keep the room at human-comfortable temps (I'm assuming at least 68 deg) I don't foresee a problem. I personally don't like to wear a sweater in my own house, so I keep my ambient temperature at least 72. It also helps that I live in TX so my heating expenses aren't as expensive as some other locales.
