Wherever you live, you will be keeping darts in a separate environment. I live in SE Idaho, one of the most unhumid places barring Arizona or the Rhubalkahli, and one of the coldest on earth in the winter. That's outside the house. Inside, you create a mini-environment, a vivarium/terrarium that has little to do with where you live or the current humidity of your house. Outside of the artificial environment you create in a small vivarium, the frogs wouldn't last 15 minutes. If they escape, they are gonners.
However, they are no more difficult than keeping a tropical fish tank-- in fact, they are less of a hassle, and don't seem to just die deliberately, like most tropical fish seem to do. Your vivarium will be closed to contain the humidity. You can add waterways, and whatever designs, with plants and such, to be relatively self-contained. Look into it and cruise around the net for care sheets and ideas.

Its funny you you seem to have more trouble with fish than frogs. I have kept many of themore difficult fish with great sucess. I have been keeping frogs for a year or so and have quite a few losses.I definantly try to give my frogs the best set-ups and read all the info i can find, But Each time I lose a frog I debate whether to give up the hobby. I love the frogs and have been interested in keeping them for some time but dont want to have any animals suffer either.
thanks

You mentioned that you have had problems keeping frogs in the past... What kind of frogs were these? Most of the commonly kept cheeper "starter frogs" such as green or cuban treefrogs, or firebelly toads are wild caught, so they can have many diseases or parasites. The conditions that the big pet store chains keep the poor frogs in doesn't make things better either. It's ironic.... the pet stores all say that they make great starter pets, but they can be really difficult.
I'm in the same boat as you. I had many problems with my greens and cubans. I haven't had a single problem since I got my darts though.

green tree frogs forget it. I ve been there. I found them impossible and not very interesting. Of course, I remember having one whose chance for survival was greatly reduced when a turtle ate it. Seriously, I have had my share of problems with keeping darts. I think this has been in part due to problems with accurately measuring humidity. Hopefully Ive been able to take care of that. I am keeping all tincs now and low foward to other species in the future. For now, working hard to perfect my knowledge of their care
thanks

set up a rack system and they will thrive, very simple and cheap to set up, we use them in 10 to 55 gal.tanks. Try writing Under the Canopy Farms, they sell them andor will explain how to make them. If no luck, post back and I'll try to explain.
