We confirmed that our little BP is female! She was less than 50 grams, mite ridden, and starving when we got her (at supposidly 4 months) we have had her probably a month and 1/2 and she is mite free, eating like a champ, finally not shaped like a triangle and her spine isn't sticking out, and she is about 85-90 grams! I was seriously doubting if she was female since she was from a petstore, but I just had a feeling she was. We had her popped 3 times, all of them turned out female, and this was from a BP (and other, but mainly BP) breeder from kingsnake along with someone he was working with. We are really excited, now we are working on getting her healthy and fat and eventually breeding her to my super beautiful male! She is in shed right now and I will try to post pics when we see our beautiful new girl!

Thanks to everyone who gave me tips on mites and feeding larger prey! Less than 1 week of treatment and we have still not seen one mite over 3 weeks later. As soon as we switched her to hoppers, she has no trouble killing them and we hope to get her over to rat pups soon. I want to get her on PK, but as long as she is eating, I will slowly work her into them. It is worth the time and effort.

Wow, I'd never sex a snake that young or small for fear of kinking, but that's me.

It's perfectly acceptable to sex a baby ball python right out of the egg. You should cause no harm if you do so... Chondos on the other hand are an entirely different matter, they are much more fragile and can be hurt and have their tales broken if popped or probed too early. I see that you have one of each.... both species are very different from each other and their care and handling requirements shouldn't be confused.
