So far D&M line crosses are the only animals proven to produce Sunsets. Only time will tell if other Hypo x Hogg crosses breed together will produce them.

a hog and a hypo are the ingredients.
1/4 cup of rats, 1/2 cup of substrate, a pinch of love.. J/K
lol
a hog and a hypo is what you need.
no you don't get sunsets first generation, or possibly even second, everytime, but why someone would suggest there is only one line of hypo hogs that can produce them is beyond me and a bit absurd.

D&M are the only ones to produce them that we know of because they acquired Joe Terry's founding stock. They are years and years into this project while others are just starting.

thanks, Joe

I wasn't exactly sure. I'm making plans for Spring. Can't wait till the Hamburg show in February. I'm hoping to find a DH ghost male, adult anery female and maybe a female hogg. That's why I was asking. Here's that '02 male Tudehope I got from you this past Spring. (you took this pic) He's doing great. Still looks great. He's over 5 feet now. I was thinking of putting him with an anery and make Ivory hets but I'm not really sure. Might just keep him as a nice "pet". Mys on calls him his. Thanks again. Ryan.

Hi Joe,
The reason why I wrote that is because I thought that Dave breed his line cross to cross last year, and none of the babys looked like Sunsets?

bcijoe Nov 03, 2004 07:15 AM

not sure, haven't heard this.. but it's a chance his breeders weren't good enough in grade.. meaning, I think it is only the best of the salmon hogs, the one that have a max of both traits, and then after crossed, the best of those, and so on..
if a breeder is not fully both, if it's only a nice salmon with no hog influence, i don't think it can happen at all..
There is still lots to learn about this wonderful morph.
