What's in your URO SALAD???

cv768 Nov 01, 2004 12:32 PM

We feed our uros daily a mix of the following:

-bok choy
-snow peas
-shredded carrots
-alfalfa sprouts and mixed sprouts
-romaine lettuce
-shredded radish
-hibiscus flowers and leaves

All are dusted lightly with a repcal and once a week are dusted with reptivite.

So what's in your uro salad?

It's different every day, but there's at least three leafy greens every day (ok, sometimes two if I need to hit the store), one vegetable, and sometimes extras or treats.

Greens I use:
dandelion, collards, mustards, bok choy, nappa cabbage, arugula, raddichio, escarole, endive, sometimes kale, and I've only ever found turnip greens ONCE, darn it.

Veggies:
winter squashes (shredded), parsnip (shredded), peas, snow peas, sugar snap peas, green beans, lima beans, and occasionally red or yellow peppers, and asparagus.

Fruits, flowers, and treats:
raspberries, figs, strawberries, blueberries, bee pollen, apple, banana, dandelion or cat's claw flowers, nasturtiums, pansies, hibiscus, hollyhock mallow, wheatberries.

Some or all available every day or nearly every day:
lentils, birdseed, wide variety of crushed beans (no kidney beans), split peas.

It sounds like a lot, but there's only 5 or 6 things in the salad at any one time. And if I have to leave the house in a rush, I'll throw a whole collard leaf into each cage to occupy them unitl I can get back.

This morning the fridge pickin's were slim, so they got arugula, endive, bok choy and bee pollen. Oh! And they get calcium w/ D3 once a week, plain calcium twice a week, multivitamin once a week, and the leftover days are for Bene-bac.
