Paddle tail newt and holidays are comming...

aemacivor Nov 01, 2004 01:31 PM

Hello! I'm new here...
I've got a paddle tail newt, who is great. However, I am going to have to go away for a bit of time over Christmas. Probably just over a week... less than two weeks.
If I can, I want to find someone to take care of him. However, if I can't... what would be the best thing to do? Would he be ok on his own for that amount of time? Or should I try to travel with him...

Thanks!!!

you'd be surprised how long they can go with out any food. they should be fine. just feed a little extra the day(s) leading up to your departure

Really? I'm not going to come home to a dead newt?

I've put guppies in his tank before, and they didn't last too long... they just kept disapearing. I figured that they would either be good company, or a good snack. Maybe I'll pick up a few more of those for while I'm gone.

But he will be ok for almost two weeks????

if you are going to be gone two weeks i would say yes, it could be fine that long. what you should do though is get someone to feed him once or twice while you are gone.
