Shedding skin os not common on aquatic turtles,. If the white stuff is easily removed, it is probably fungus. Use a fungal preparation, however, not the Sulfa. Best bet is Fungus Cure by Marine Pharmeceuticals (buy at a fish store or large chain pet shop if in the U.S.)in the water and long periods when they are permitted to dry out and are painted with Iodine/povidone SOLUTION (not ointment). Proprietary name for this is Betadine, but you will pay much more if you buy the brand, rather than the generic.
