To the freaks that "arouse" their geckos......

agrrlandherguy Nov 01, 2004 06:06 PM

LOL

Sorry, but I am bringing this subject from an earlier post where it was mentioned that Dave may "arouse" his gecko.

Honest question....... what is up with male geckos anyways? Totally gross story, but true:

Everytime I take my male crested out of his enclosure to feed or handle him, he *ahem* starts to have some "issues" down there. Why is that and why the hell does he eat it??????

*blushes*

I had to ask.

I've had that experience too. We took a male we just received out of the cage, set him down on the desk for a second. He immediately ejaculated, and then ate it – weird to say the least.

Randy-

That is EXACTLY my problem!!! I mean I don't expect him to stop, if that is what he does, then that is what he does.... but my question is why? It is just odd that every time I take him out this happens. Can he not do it before I pick him up??

*sighs* Males!

haha thats hilarious. one question though...does the hemipene not evert when this happens? or does fluid just come straight out of his vent?

agrrlandherguy Nov 03, 2004 10:23 PM

Only fluid comes out.... an icky mess.... then he licks it up and acts like nothing happened!

i was picking up my crested and he release a clear fluid twice before i picked him up, let him walk on me, and transferred into his new cage. i was wondering what the heck that was and was doing some research on it (on this forum actually) -

i read that this was one of their "fight of flight" responses when they get scared (most probably because he's thinking he's gonna get eaten). so they have one of two options: A) release a clear liquid which is supposed to have a light funky smell to warn off predators or B) drop their tail and run.
