Panther, Veiled & Carpets Diets...Same or not?

red_eyed_magalie Jun 29, 2003 09:48 PM

Hello everyone

I was just wondering...I posted a similar ad with some questions pertaining to what type of yummies to feed my new Panther. Everyone has been so nice in providing so many suggestions, thank you. But, before I order all of these yummies I wanted to check and see if these same treats can be given to my Veileds & Carpets...(so I know how many to order)....1.1 panthers and 1.2 veileds & 1.1 Carpets (all-meaning all 3).

Butter worms (yes-all)
wax worms (yes-all)
meal worms (yes-all)
super worms (Panthers & Veileds) (too big for carpets?)
silk worms (Panthers * Veileds) ?Carpets

green horned worms (don't know)(too big for carpets?)

I can't bring myself to get these things...houseflies, moths (dull colored night moths), mantids, grasshoppers, or stick insects. So I am leaving myself with just the above mentioned items other than just crickets.

Thanks again- Maggie

Maggie-

I would say yes to everything you listed for all your chameleons. I don't know the size of your chameleons but in general Supperworms are for older larger chameleons, and hornworms are usually shipped small so when you receive them they are not giants, this allows you to feed them out when they reach the correct size. Here is a good article on bug nutrition, click the link below. Hope this helps!

This is a good list of safe wild bugs, BUT you should be cautious about pesticides and if you collect them make sure it is a pesticide free area click the link below! Hope this helps!
